The only G20 Nation in Recession
On 22nd December 2009 the Office for National Statistics released data confirming that the UK is the only G20 nation still in recession. In the third quarter of 2009 Gross Domestic Product contracted by 0.2%. The slump of the past 18 months is now officially the deepest since World War II. Although the economy is expected to recover in 2010 it will be a slow and bumpy road to recovery.

2.49 Million People out of Work
According to the Office of National Statistics between August to October 2009 the unemployment rate rose to 2.49 million people out of work. Despite economic recovery it is forecast that unemployment will rise for the first 6 months of 2010 peaking at 2.8 million.

UK House Prices 4.1% Lower than September 2008
According to the house price index statistics produced by Community and Local Government released on 10th November 2009, UK house prices were 4.1% lower than in September 2008. The latest housing poll by Reuters revealed house prices are set to rise slowly over 2010.
